State lawmakers are taking a break from the Assembly until March 19th in hopes that the U-S Congress will act on Georgia's PeachCare--the health insurance program for low income children. Congress may or may not be able to help Georgia's program, but either way, PeachCare appears likely to be cut-down. Top Republicans in the Georgia House and Senate say that even if the federal government can fill the current shortfall in money, PeachCare needs to scale-back to make it for the long run. The ideas in-play include hiking premiums, making dental and vision coverage a more expensive add-on feature, and cut some children from the rolls.
