The Georgia Senate unanimously passed a resolution urging the Medical College of Georgia to name its dental school after the late Republican Congressman Charlie Norwood of Augusta.
Sen. Jim Whitehead (R-Evans) gave Norwood a rare compliment by calling him, "a dentist that we've all wanted to be with, wanted to smile with, wanted to laugh with, and there are senators in this room that enjoyed some of the greatest times in their lives because of Charlie."
Norwood died in February after a long battle with cancer. Whitehead is running to replace him in Washington.
