A top child welfare official with Fulton County has been indicted on child abuse charges. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that 38-year-old Cylenthia Clark is due in court July 31st to answer to a felony charge of first-degree child cruelty. Clark is the assistant director of the Fulton Department of Family and Children's Services. The indictment alleges Clark beat her 8-year-old daughter 34 times with a leather belt when the child disobeyed her. Clark after her arrest returned to her job, but only doing administrative duties, and not working on child protective cases.
