Alabama wants more water from Georgia lake

Alabama is in need of drought relief, and its Governor is asking the Army Corps of Engineers for more water from Georgia to help. Alabama Governor Bob Riley has requested water be released from Lake Allatoona. In a letter to the Army secretary, Riley says the Corps is not following its own reservoir manual for operation of the lake. Because of that he says, his state has been short about 18-billion gallons of water.
Riley charges that the Corps has met the minimum water release amounts only 6-percent of the days since the start of February. He says the Corps failure to follow its own procedures quote “shocking”.
