158 Georgia counties are now under a federal disaster declaration because of drought. That means farmers in those counties can apply for emergency low-interest loans. Only Muscogee County, which includes Columbus, did not qualify for a disaster declaration. Many farmers haven’t been able to plant or harvest crops because of what some are calling the worst drought in recent memory. Many have not been able to feed their animals.
