Older Ft. Benning recruit dies in training

A 39-year-old Army recruit has died on post after collapsing during a road march several days earlier, the Army reported today.

Pvt. Steven C. Partida of Houston collapsed about half way through an eight kilometer (five mile) march on Friday. After first aid measures were taken, he was flown to a military hospital where he died Sunday morning.

Partida was in his fourth week of basic training, according to the Columbus Ledger-Enquirer newspaper.
