A 74-year-old judge beaten in a broad daylight attack in his office in Southeast Georgia two weeks ago died yesterday.
Wayne County Recorders Court Judge Glenn Thomas Junior was taken to Savannah's Memorial Health University Medical Center on June 25th. That's when authorities say, ex-prisoner Bobby Stribling entered the judge's law office in downtown Jesup and beat him with a blunt weapon before stealing his wallet and pickup truck.Stribling was caught shortly after the attack and will now be charged with murder in Thomas' death.
Authorities are not saying whether they think the crime was revenge. Thomas' office prosecuted Stribling when Thomas was a District Attorney in Brunswick, although it's unlikely Thomas personally tried the case.
Current D.A. Stephen Kelley is describing his predecessor as a mentor, boss and friend with was a very statesman-like attorney.
