In a terrorism case against two Georgians, one of the men’s lawyers wants a separate trial. Former Georgia Tech student Syed Ahmed and Ehsanul Sadequee of Atlanta are accused of helping terrorists plan an attack on American targets, as well as undergoing terrorist training. Ahmed’s lawyer wants the government to try the men separately, but has asked permission for the men and their lawyers to meet jointly to discuss common defense interests. Ahmed’s lawyer says evidence introduced during a joint trial could put his client at risk of prejudice.
