Delta Air Lines spent more than half a million dollars lobbying the federal government to oppose US Airways' proposed $9.8 billion hostile takeover bid. Atlanta-based Delta was in bankruptcy last November when US Airways announced its takeover bid. US Airways withdrew its offer in late January after Delta's official creditors committee rejected the idea. A disclosure form says Delta hired the lobbying firm Quinn Gillespie & Associates. In addition to Congress, the firm lobbied the White House and Transportation Department.
