Chipper Jones delievered an RBI-double in the bottom of the 9th inning to lead the Braves to a 5-4 win over the Giants last night from Turner Field in Atlanta. The Giants had tied the game in the top-half of the inning off closer Bob Wickman. Earlier in the game, the Braves had turned around a 3-run deficit in the 6th inning: A Mark Teixeira home run, Yunel Escobar 2-run double, and Matt Diaz RBI-single accounted for the outburst.
Game-2 of the series goes tonight, with Tim Hudson getting the pitching start. The Braves remain 3-and-a-half games behind the Mets for 1st in the NL-East.
One other note from the Braves-game last night: manager Bobby Cox was ejected from a game for the 132nd time in his career, and that now stands as a new baseball record.
