While a new poll by the Princeton Review puts UGA in the top 5 when it comes to partying, officials there want parents and students to be forewarned. Because new policy changes mean stiffer penalties for students caught drinking.
UGA spokesman Tom Jackson says two alcohol infractions can add up to at least a year's suspension.
"Rather than writing warnings or citations, and not taking somebody to jail, you are handcuffed and put in the police car and taken to jail and have you have to make bond. And, that does get some people's attention."
Just one week into this semester, nearly two dozen UGA students have been suspended for underage drinking.
In other news, US News and World Reports ranks UGA as one of the nation's top twenty public schools when it comes to academics.
