Bids considered for Savannah River Site

The bids of two companies hoping to land the contract to operate part of the Savannah River Site are being reviewed by the Department of Energy. The site is the former nuclear weapons complex across the Savannah River from Augusta.

The current contract is worth one-billion dollars, and splits work between operation of the site and enviromental cleanup. The current deal with Washington Savannah River ends in June of next year. That company is one of the two bidding for the new deal.
