Washington County police have made an arrest in connection with a fire that destroyed a church over the summer.
Investigators in the middle Georgia county say a tip led them to the home of Kenneth Tanner. They say at Tanner's home they discovered a missing meter box from the Holly Springs Baptist Church, which burned in June.
Washington County Sheriff, Thomas Smith, says the whole community is relieved by Tanner's arrest.
"There's been an outpouring of financial support for the churches to help them rebuild. Also it's such a relief for the members of Holly Springs Church to know that an arrest has been made."
Police say Tanner may also be a suspect in a second church fire the same night. Police have not confirmed his motive, but they say it is not a hate crime.
