Bainbridge College officials are dealing with a threatened shooting attack against the school, allegedly planned to occur on Wednesday.
President Tom Wilkerson on Tuesday said that the school, located in Decatur Co. near the border with Florida, is "operating under caution." He said that the Decatur County Sheriff's Office is investigating, and that plainclothes deputies have been stationed on the main campus, as well as at the Blakely campus, and the Annex.
The threat was received on Monday afternoon, according to a statement by Wilkerson appearing on the school's website:
A message was discovered in the women’s restroom adjacent to the Library. The message threatened to “shoot the campus up” on Wednesday of this week. No individuals were threatened. We do not know if this threat is related to the earlier incidents with the fires."The fires" is a reference to several previous arson attempts in the restrooms, the school said.
Wilkerson instructed students to report "anything or anyone out of the ordinary" to campus security at (229) 493-0554, and at (229) 515-0811. Access to several college facilities has been limited, due to stepped up security, the statement said.
