'No-call' bill proposed in Senate; robo-calls cited in Obama campaign

Calls of foul play in the run up to Georgia's super Tuesday, have one senator proposing legislation meant to put a halt to what some are calling dirty campaign tactics.

A week after Barack Obama's campaign asked state attorney general Thurbert Baker to look into anonymous "robocalls" made to Atlanta-area residents, Senator Eric Johnson say's he'll introduce a bill to ban the automated phone calls.

"What were really doing is the unsolicitied phone call statutue. Changing existing statutue that only a school can call about a child, a business you have a relationship, your doctor or bank can call you. But, anybody else would be (an) unsolicited call, must have a live person on the phone."

Although the measure comes too late for next Tuesday's statewide primary, Johnson predicts the high cost of robocalls will persuade some to drop the practice altogether.
