State of the state address to air Wednesday

On Wednesday, Governor Sonny Perdue will deliver his annual state of the state address. This will mark the Governor's sixth such speech, when he'll address both the state Senate and House of Representatives. The Governor is expected to talk about education and his plan to spend 14 and a half million dollars to get parents involved in their child's learning. And, an ailing Grady Memorial Hospital, means funding for trauma care will be a hot topic. With a recently proposed statewide water management plan now before lawmakers, the question of how to conserve Georgia's water resources in the future is likely to occupy much of the Governor's time. And, Perdue will debuts the Georgia Research Alliance Venture Capital Fund. It's a 10 million dollars public private partnership to provide seed money intellectual property ideas developed at the state's research universities. Finally, the governor has revealed his budget will include $52 million to deepen the Savannah Harbor to accommodate today's larger ships.
