There is a new requirement for a new biodefense laboratory Georgia is competing for. The federal government says the lab would have to have its own power plant. Georgia is vying against Kansas, Mississippi, North Carolina, and Texas for the lab. The proposed Georgia site is near the University of Georgia in Athens.
