The Georgia Senate has voted in favor of a multi-state plan from the Pentagon to make it easier for military kids to switch schools. The plan would cut the red tape that makes it difficult for kids to transition.
Georgia is among dozens of other states considering the plan. Pentagon supporters say it would also help the armed forces as a whole because difficulties uprooting children is the major reason people leave active duty.
Military children change schools an average of six to nine times between kindergarten and 12th grade.
The plan is pending vote in the Georgia House.
