Qualifying starts today for candidates who want to run for office this year. This week they will sign paperwork and pay a fee to get their name on the ballot. It will be the first true test of who is serious about running for office.
Georgia Democrats are hopeful they will get a boost during this presidential election year. Since 2002 they’ve been loosing power in the state to Republicans.
Democratic Party officials say they are looking to rebuild their bench with a strong crop of candidates. They say recent bickering among Republicans in the state house may also help their chances.
