Georgia soldier killed in Iraq

The Defense Department announced a soldier from Northeast Georgia was killed in Iraq. Twenty-five year old Shaun J. Whitehead of Commerce died last Thursday when a bomb exploded while he patrolled a neighborhood on foot.

Joining the Army in 2003, Whitehead served in 2^nd Brigade Combat Team at Fort Campbell in Kentucky.

His survivors included his wife, Brenda, a son and daughter, and his mother, Rebecca Whitehead of Maysville, Georgia.
