A federal grand jury in Atlanta has charged eight illegal immigrants with participating in a scheme to make and sell phony IDs, including Social Security cards and drivers licenses from multiple states. According to the U.S. Attorney for Atlanta, the defendants allegedly used computers, laminating equipment and other supplies to create the fraudulent documents, some of which were sold to confidential informants and an undercover federal agent. More than 70 documents seized contained Social Security numbers and alien registration numbers issued to other individuals, all living in the metro Atlanta area.
