President Bush is expected to soon sign into law, a bill making it illegal for some employers to discriminate based upon genetic information. The Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act (GINA) has passed both the U.S. House of Representatives and the Senate. GINA makes it unlawful for employers with more than 15 employees -- including employment agencies, labor organizations, and training programs -- to refuse to hire, or to discharge, any applicant or employee, or otherwise to discriminate against any employee with respect to compensation, terms, conditions, or privileges of employment based on that employee's genetic information
