Georgia man sentenced to two life sentences

A Georgia man has been sentenced to two life sentences for stabbing his girlfriend and another man to death in her home. On Monday, Derrick Holt was denied a request for a new trial . The Manchester,Georgia man admitted stabbing 22-year-old Narcissa Laymon of Marrero, and 29-year-old L.C. Lewis on Sept. 6, 2003. Holt was originally charged with first-degree murder, which can be punishable by death. His attorneys argued that he is mentally retarded, and Holt agreed. Holt's attorney will appeal the verdict.
