Governor Sonny Perdue has told state agencies to cut spending by three to four percent in the next fiscal year, beginning July 1st. In an update on a state website, Perdue cites a big drop in state tax revenues for May. The state’s take of 1.47 billion dollars for the month was down 31-percent from May 2007. The posting on the website predicts overall state tax collections to be flat for fiscal year 2009.
