Governor Perdue has sent a letter to the White house asking President Bush to release strategic Petroleum reserves to refineries in the gulf. Perdue says the system of supply and demand in Metro Atlanta is broken, as gas station tanks are empty all over Metro Atlanta.
Refineries along the gulf are slowly coming on line again, and Perdue says a surge is crude oil into the refineries would help speed up supply.
Perdue asks that the decision be made soon and the oil be released in early October.
