Counting finally ends in Fulton County

Late Friday evening, Fulton County finished counting the last of its absentee paper ballots. But officials still had to review 2,300 paper ballots cast by voters who didn't have proper identification or whose names didn't match or appear on voter rolls Tuesday. The ballots are counted once the voters are verified. Fulton and Georgia's other 158 counties that had similar provisional ballots expect to finish reviewing them Friday. And with a runoff election looming in Georgia's tight Senate race, Republican incumbent Saxby Chambliss and Democratic challenger Jim Martin are watching those numbers. Chambliss has 49.8 percent but needs more than 50 percent to avoid a runoff. Martin has just less than 47 percent, and Libertarian Allen Buckley has just over 3 percent.
