A Springfield, Georgia native who served as an original board member of Days Inn of America has died. Lon Day-Jr died Wednesday after a long illness--he was 79-years-old. Born in Springfield, he graduated from Lancer High School in Macon and attended Georgia Military College. Day-Jr was the brother of the later Cecil Day, who founded the Days Inn hotel chain.
