The state Senate said ‘yes’ on Tuesday to a proposal giving voters a chance to approve an annual $10 car tag fee for the state's Trauma Care Trust Fund. This is the second trauma funding bill Senate lawmakers approved this session. The first ... backed by Governor Sonny Perdue ... is the so-called “super speeder” legislation which upped the cost of a speeding ticket. If the $10 proposal passes in the House, voters will decide next year whether or not to amend the state's constitution to include the annual fee. The increased tag fee applies to vehicles which carry 10 or more passengers, and will be charged the first time a tag is issued or when a vehicle is re-registered. The measure passed in the Senate 58-8 and now heads to the House for a vote.
