Dairy Farmers Struggle

In the last few months the price of milk has dropped. This is good news for consumers, but bad news for Georgia's dairy farmers.
Everett Williams is a dairy farmer in Madison, Georgia with 14-hundred head of cattle. Last year the drought made it tough to get enough hay to feed his cows. This year the drought is easing up, but there's too much milk on the market. The global recession has also dried up exports.

And, your dairy marketing companies, your dairy processors are making record profits and they're basically doing it on the backs of dairy farmers."

Everett is also president of the Georgia Milk Producers. He says in the last few days he's spoken with auctioneers who are concerned dairy farmers could send their cows to market if prices do not improve.
