The drought which has gripped the state for most of the past three years is almost gone, with a small patch in northeast Georgia still considered "abnormally dry." The U.S. Drought Monitor, updated every Thursday, shows the improved conditions. Abnormally dry designation is the lowest of five drought intensity designations.
