East Georgia fire chief faces theft charges
A former fire chief in the town of Arnoldsville, near Athens, has been arrested on theft charges. Agents with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation took 33-year-old Joe Siegert into custody this week. He is charged with three felony counts of theft by conversion. Authorities say $50,000 in grant money meant for the east Georgia town’s volunteer fire department instead was taken by Siegert.
