A renowned middle Georgia school bus maker is selling its motor coach divisions.
Fort Valley-based Blue Bird Corporation has agreed to sell off production of recreational vehicles, commercial coaches and motor homes. The buyer is California’s Complete Coach Works.
Blue Bird marketing director Ron Smith says the sale will help the company re-focus. "We're just returning to our roots as the nation's premier school bus manufacturer. We wanna focus on school bus. This will allow us to do that," he said.
A representative of Complete Coach Works says the company will keep all employees in those units, and anticipates hiring more. Blue Bird has employees across 60 Georgia Counties, with approximately 1500 employees in Fort Valley alone.
