Two moonshiners plead guilty

Two northeast Georgia men have pleaded guilty to running a moonshine still in north Georgia’s Chattahoochee National Forest. Brett Jarrard and Max Moss, both of Clayton, were among four people charged with producing the illegal liquor in Rabun County. Authorities say agents destroyed six stills overall and seized more than a thousand gallons of moonshine.

Suspected moonshiners in N. GA mountains

A federal indictment accuses two Georgia men of making moonshine. Brett Jarrard and Max Moss, both of Clatyon County, allegedly ran a moonshine still in the Chattahoochee National Forest in north Georgia. Investigators arrested the two men and two other alleged accomplices last night. They say moonshine is illegal because it poses a health risk from crude equipment used to make the alcohol, it denies the government revenue, and encroaches on a legitimate industry.
