The Braves turned a 3-1 lead yesterday afternoon into a 4-3 loss at Washington. That wrapped a 4-game series in which the Braves lost 3 games to the Nationals. In the bigger picture, the Braves have lost 4 of their last 5 games. In that stretch, they've scored a combined 16 runs, and hitting for a .217 team average. The Braves tonight start a weekend series in Boston against the Red Sox, who own the best record in the major leagues.
Columbus State's softball team will have to win an elimination game to stay alive in the NCAA's Division II Softball Finals Tournament in Akron, Ohio. On Thursday, the Lady Cougars lost 3-nothing to defending champion Lock Haven. Columbus State will face C.W. Post today at noon. The winner survives to play-on,while the loser goes home.
