Georgia sports for January 1st, 2008

The Georgia Bulldogs hit the field inside the Louisiana Superdome tonight for their Sugar Bowl matchup against Hawaii. Georgia aims for their 11th win to close-out the season. The Warriors of Hawaii bring a perfect 12-0 record into the contest.

Georgia Tech’s football team ended their season in defeat Monday afternoon. The Yellow Jackets fell 40-28 to Fresno State in the Humanitarian Bowl, played in Boise, Idaho. Tech was coached by assistant Jon Tenuta for the game. Tenuta however will likely be leaving the program in the transfer to a new staff led by new head coach Paul Johnson next season. Tech completed their season with a 7-6 record.

Pro hockey action Monday included the Atlanta Thrashers losing at Boston 5-2.
