Weather channel to be sold to NBC

The Weather Channel is changing hands. NBC Universal struck a deal to buy the Atlanta-based company for 3.5 billion dollars, says an anonymous source. The purchase includes not only the cable channel but also weather services for newspapers and radio stations, as well the website. NBC and current-owner Landmark say the deal should close by year-end and the company will continue to operate out of Atlanta.
