Georgia sports for Friday, April 4th

The Atlanta Braves hold a 1-3 record to open the season. Last night, they lost at home to the Pittsburgh Pirates 4-3 in 10 innings. Xavier Nady delivered an RBI-single off reliever Chris Resop for the winning margin in the 10th. The game marked the non-return of pitcher Mike Hampton. Primed to make his first start in a major-league game since August 2005, Hampton had to be scratched from the start last night when he experienced a left pectoral muscle strain in pre-game warmups. It's the latest in an injury-filled two-and-a-half years for Hampton, who's been trying to return from an assortment of problems, including a pair of left elbow surgeries.

The Braves tonight open a 3-game series in Atlanta against the New York Mets--Tim Hudson gets the Braves' pitching assignment.
