State Launches Childcare Referral Hotline

Parents looking for "licensed, affordable and convenient" childcare will soon have a toll-free number to call, thanks to the state of Georgia.

The referral hotline is part of the Georgia Department of Early Childcare and Learning. The program will give families access to more than 3,000 child care learning centers, 250 group day care homes and 5,300 family day care homes, all licensed by the state.

The agency is working in conjunction with the non-profit group Quality Care for Children, which will operate the service.

The hotline, which will launch June 1, will have bilingual representatives armed with information and advice on how to select a qualified child care provider. A searchable database will also be available.
