Leesburg mayor dies

The longtime mayor of Leesburg has died after a long illness. Robert Boney passed away at his home Monday at the age of 81. Boney had been mayor of the southwest Georgia town, just north of Albany, for 18 years. Mayor pro-tem Sydney Johnson will serve as acting mayor until a special election is held.
