Kathy Cox Home Up For Auction

The Peachtree City home of state school superintendent Kathy Cox goes on the auction block July 7th. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports a legal notice of the auction was printed in the Fayette Daily News last week. It was last November that Cox and her developer husband filed for personal bankruptcy. They cited more than $3.5 million in liabilities, with less than $650,000 in assets. Mrs. Cox has no role in her husband’s business, but is a co-signer on loans for it.

School Board Considers Class Size Increase

More crowded classrooms could be in the future for students in Georgia public schools. The state’s school board is scheduled to vote today on a plan that would temporarily raise the state-mandated limit on class size by two students per class. Schools superintendent Kathy Cox wants the limit hiked to help Georgia’s 180 school districts save $200-million. That would be the cost of hiring new teachers in the face of historic budget shortfalls in Georgia.
