State Senator Emanuel Jones (D-Decatur) is demanding a public apology from the Douglas County district attorney, after news that David McDade told a reporter the senator had requested a copy of the videotape at the center of the Genarlow Wilson case. Jones has demanded McDade provide proof that Jones ever requested a copy of the tape which shows Genarlow Wilson having sex with two teenage girls in 2003. Jones says neither he nor anyone else his office ever requested a copy of the tape. "I read an article in today's paper where it is quoted as saying that I requested a copy of the tape from him, which he has said he has given me a copy of the tape. It's a lie. It's an outright untrue statement." Earlier this week, Jones asked the Attorney General's office to investigate the Douglas County D-A. He charges that McDade distributed at least three dozen copies of the tape to state legislators and the media. Jones says he wants Baker to determine if releasing the tape amounts to distribution of child pornography.
