Two Georgia schools face subpoenas about whether their athletic departments accepted kickbacks from a student loan company. Georgia Tech and Georgia State University are among 40 schools nationwide subpoenaed by the New York Attorney General’s office. Investigators say they believe the schools had some sort of agreement with Florida-based lender University Financial Services. They say it’s against federal consumer laws for a school to endorse a student loan provider based purely on payments from that lender.
