Paper Trail Voting Popular Report Shows

The vote is in on last November's pilot program on paper trails for Georgia's Electronic Voting Machines.
Three precincts in Bibb, Camden and Cobb counties had paper printouts and data released by the secretary of state’s office shows the votes cast by machine and paper matched up 100 percent. Also, 82 percent of those surveyed said they liked the print outs, but that does not mean Georgia will go through the expense of equipping all its voting machines. Rob Simms is Georgia Deputy Secretary of State.

"I think before we proceed we have to work out some of the logistical and technical problems," he says.

For one there is no technology on the market yet, that is specifically designed for the computers Georgia already has. The reports also shows over 86 percent of those questioned have confidence in Georgia’s electronic voting machines.
