The black bear who charmed visitors at a Savannah wildlife attraction for nearly three decades has died.
Oatland Island Wildlife Center director Chris Gentle said "Baby Bear" died Monday. The bear lived to age 28, which is unusual.
He came to Oatland Island in 1981 as a cub.
Oatland Island is a 100-acre complex near downtown Savannah with more than 150 animals. Gentle said he is talking with animal rescue organizations about getting another black bear.
