Baby Formula Theft Ring Busted

Detectives have cracked a multi-million dollar baby formula theft ring that made its way through Georgia. Twenty one suspects are behind bars for their role in what authorities call Operation Hot Milk.

Investigations began when police found stolen baby formula during a traffic stop in 2008. The suspects, all in the country illegally, admitted traveling from Georgia to Florida to steal baby formula. They say they were paid between $100 to $300 daily and sometimes hit 15 stores a day. The formula was held in storage units, hauled out of state to North Carolina where it was repackaged and sold.

Check Your Expiration Dates!

You might want to check the dates on your milk, eggs and baby formula a little more closely. The department slashed more than 11% of its budget, with most of that coming from administrative costs.
