A Georgia man is accused of threatening to blow up FBI buildings nationwide.
Gregory Jones, special agent in charge of the FBI in Atlanta, said Friday 23-year-old Michael Robert DeJong of Buford was arrested Wednesday morning, one week after the threat was made on the FBI.gov Web site.
DeJong is in custody pending a probable cause and bond hearing on Tuesday.
DeJong was arrested at a friend's home in Auburn, Ga., after agents traced the threat to a publicly available computer in the Auburn library. Examining the computer contents, agents were led to DeJong, who they learned had been convicted of threats against President Bush in 2007.
The threat did not specify which FBI offices would be targeted other than that the bomber would start with Atlanta.

Macon bomb threat defendant loses appeal
The federal appeals court in Atlanta has upheld the conviction of a man sentenced to 30 years in prison after telephoning a series of bomb threats in Macon five years ago. Eddie Milton Garey Jr. claimed his right to effective counsel was violated when he was forced to represent himself during his 2004 trial. He had rejected his court-appointed attorney. Today the 11th Circuit court disagreed with a lower court decision that the judge had erred in letting Garey act as his own lawyer.

Student faces 17 counts for bomb threat
Authorities in northeast Georgia have charged a student with 17 counts in connection with a bomb threat made earlier this month. On October 3rd, state schools superintendent Kathy Cox had just walked through the front doors of Jackson County Comprehensive High School in Jefferson, when the school was ordered evacuated by district officials. In all, 17 schools were cleared in Jackson, Jefferson, and Commerce school districts. Prosecutors have not decided whether they will try to prosecute the 15-year-old in Jackson’s Superior Court, or Juvenile Court.
