Georgia sports roundup--Monday, Dec. 1st

NFL / Atlanta Falcons--

The Falcons continued a surprising season with another victory--this on the road Sunday in San Diego, knocking off the Chargers 22-16. With the win, the Falcons improved their record to 8-4, and kept alive their chance to make the postseason. With 4 regular season games remaining, Atlanta is 1 game behind NFC South division leaders Tampa Bay and Carolina. The Falcons are also in the hunt for a wild-card playoff berth.

College football / Bulldogs-Yellow Jackets--

On Saturday, Georgia Tech snapped a 7-game losing streak in their series against Georgia, topping the Bulldogs 45-42 in Athens. Tech's Yellow Jackets trailed 28-12 at halftime, only to turn things around with 26 points in the 3rd quarter. Both teams complete their regular season schedule with identical 9-3 records, and await postseason bowl invitations.

High school football playoffs--

Georgia high school football staged its quarterfinal round of the playoffs over teh weekend. Out of the action, 20 teams remain standing and set for the semifinals this coming weekend. Below are the matchups for this coming Friday and Saturday:

Cairo at Carver-Columbus
