State BOE approves new high school requirements

The state Board of Education by unanimous vote Thursday approved new high school requirements for freshmen starting in 2008. All students will take four years of math and science, and will no longer choose between a focus on college-prep or job skills. The changes remove Georgia’s four-tiered graduation plan, and officials say the guidelines will give students a better base in core classes.
