New Georgia license plate to make premiere

This week you may start seeing a new kind of license plate in Georgia.

County tag offices are debuting a new wildflower auto tag.

It features a purple coneflower, a native Georgia perennial that blooms between June and October.

The one-time $25 fee funds the state's wildflower program which cultivates wildflowers on state roadways.

Equine plates nearly ready

Horse enthusiasts may soon be able to express their love for the equine kind on their license plate. Once 1,000 orders come in, state officials say production will begin on an equine plate. And only a few more orders are needed to reach the minimum. Once that happens, $10 of each $25 fee will go toward education, research and promotion for the equine industry.

License plate decals to change

Monday will mark changes to Georgia’s license plates. Tag and title offices will issue larger decals for all motor vehicle registrations. It’s so that police officers can read the expiration date easier.
