Forget squad cars, bikes and even horses.
Police in Macon soon will begin using three-wheel scooters to get around the city's riverfront and downtown. The police department is using $25,000 from its confiscated funds reserve to buy two T3 Motion personal mobility devices.
The scooters are ridden standing up on a raised platform and have blue lights, sirens and a horn. The department hopes to get the scooters by the end of the year.
Other law enforcement agencies, such as the Perry PoliceDepartment and the Bibb County Sheriff's office, also are considering buying the scooters.
The Forsyth Police Department is considering selling a T3 scooter bought last year because it gets used so little.
